12×12 Photo Marathon 2010

12 HOURS · 12 THEMES · 12 EXPOSURES

The 12×12 Vancouver Photo Marathon is a fun and challenging contest designed to test the skill, creativity and quick thinking of photographers. The true-to-life setting of minimal time, few exposures and creative carte-blanche is an exciting exercise for any photographer – from the upstart amateur to the avid pro – and gives participants a chance to test themselves on a variety of different themes and techniques against photographers from all walks of life.

The 12×12 Vanoucer Photo Marathon will be using Blenz Coffe in Yaletown (338 Helmcken St, Vancouver) as Home Base. This is where all the photographers sign in at the beginning of the event (7am), where they have to return to at the top of each hour to get the next theme, and where all the films must be dropped off at the end of the 12 hours.

Vancouver: a popular destination for summer hllydays

Summer travellers seeking cheap flights are increasingly considering Vancouver as a destination, according to the Edinburgh, Scotland-based online travel agency Skyscanner Travel.

Skyscanner ranks world cities on how frequently visitors to its website search for flights to that destination.

Vancouver jumped from the 99th most searched destination in June to the 89th most searched destination in July.

Vancouver real estate sales drop sharply in June

Residential property sales in Greater Vancouver were down 30% last month compared to June 2009 – which was the second highest selling June on record. But last month’s 2,972 property sales still represent a 22.6% increase over sales recorded in June 2008.

Jake Moldowan, president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, said: “Activity in June marked a healthy balance between the near record setting pace of June 2009 and the considerably slower activity witnessed in June 2008.”

Sales in June 2010 also represented a 5.8% decline compared to the previous month.
